1940 - GREENVILLE - PICKENS SPEEDWAY
Greenville Pickens Speedway opened in 1940 as a 1/2 mile dirt oval speedway, but had to close the following year because of World War 2. It did reopen again on the 4th of July 1946, under the control of Bill France senior.

1955 - GREENVILLE - PICKENS SPEEDWAY
NASCAR didn't officially start racing at the speedway until 1955. Racing on the dirt surface continued through until the end of 1969.

1970 - GREENVILLE - PICKENS SPEEDWAY
Greenville Pickens went through went through a major upgrade in 1970 when the track surface was paved with asphalt in April. By 1971 NASCAR were starting to cull some of the smaller tracks off there program and Greenville - Pickens Speedway was one of them.
At this point in time iam unsure when NASCAR returned to the speedway, but the track continues to delivier action packed racing
