1959 - SOUTHERN CROSS TQ RACE MEETING
A speedway race meeting was held in Southern Cross in 1959, This meeting featured the new three quarter midget cars known as Tq's, The location of that meeting is yet unknown.

SOUTHERN CROSS SPEEDWAY 1
The first speedway to be built in Southern Cross was built on a site behind the hospital, as you would know not the best choice of sites, the track would later close and the speedway would shift to a new site on the Bullfinch Road.

SOUTHERN CROSS SPEEDWAY 2
The second speedway to be built in Southern Cross was beleived to be on a more secure site, but as time passed and the Conservation and Land Management became aware of the sites use, plans were put in place and the speedway had to move once again so the area could be rezoned as a nature reserve, The speedway was then rebuilt next to the site known as the motorcross track.

1996 - WEST COAST SPEEDWAY NEWS REPORTED
1996 > 1997 SOUTHERN CROSS SPEEDWAY WASCF STREET SEDAN CHAMPIONSHIP 20th April 1996
Flooding rains caused the post-ponement of the Saturday meeting to the Sunday,the track and entire surounding area was like an inland swamp, but the meeting went ahead anyway and was a total succsess for the club.

Allan Mortimer recalls: Water and more water, at one stage I ran off the track in turns 3 and 4 to end up in what was a dam on the edge of the track, where we were staying in the caravan park we were lucky enough to have a bit of high ground for the tent, some of the onsite vans were not so lucky some had to lay pallets through the anex to walk on to keep their feet dry, all in all another great tital.

2011 - SOUTHERN CROSS SPEEDWAY 3 WALKABOUT
The race track itself is in very good condition, all of the fences and gates are in fairly good condition, some of the traffic lights used by the race stewards are still intact but swinging and sqeeking in the breeze, all of the venue except the race track is slowley being covered by spinefix regrowth.
