1947 - HALSWELL DOMAIN SPEEDWAYAfter the war, motor racing, in particular motor cycle racing, went crazy in the area. There was street racing, hill climbs and they opened a 1/4 mile track at Halswell Domain.
With tracks not returning after the war, both this track and Tai Tapu Speedway brought speedway back to Christchurch.
They ran both motorcycle and Tq midget racing until Aranui Speedway opened a couple of years later and most of the midget racing moved there.

Motorcycle racing continued strong, They held major events including championship races and this brought in healthy crowds. Unfortunately the land was to be used for other reasons and with more competition in the area, the track closed down in 1956.
