1967 - CAPE FEAR MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Cape Fear Motor Speedway opened in 1967 after the closing of Carolina Beach Speedway in Wilmington. The 3/8 mile dirt oval track featured Stock Cars and Late Model Sedans on a regular basis.

1971 - CAPE FEAR MOTOR SPEEDWAY
In 1971 during a race meeting, part of the Grand Stand gave way, dropping and injuring 150 spectators. Luckely for all concerned there was no deaths.

1970's - CMR SPEEDWAY
During the early to mid 1970's the tracks name was changed to CMK Speedway, but was changed back to Cape Fear Motor Speedway, from then on it was back to business until 1981 when the land was onsold to a housing developer.
