1949 - NORWAY FAIRGROUNDS
The Norway Fairgrounds was very well known to the Harness Racing world as well as the County Fair family.
It was in 1949 after World War Two that a man by the name of Jim McConnell organised for the Maine State Stock Car Racing Association to hold Stock Car race meetings on the big 1/2 mile dirt track.
The racing was only short lived at the fairgrounds, The track closed to motor racing in 1951.
