1986 - MEMPHIS INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SPORT PARK
The Memphis Motorsport Park was founded in 1986 by Ed Gatlin who, along with a group of investors, bought 400 acres of land in Shelby County and built a Dragstrip, Road Course, a Dirt Oval Speedway and a Go Kart track.

1987 - MEMPHIS INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
The Dirt oval Speedway track when first built was a 1/4 mile, During the tracks early days it hosted many major events, This continued through until 1997 when the track went through a major upgrade with the size of the track being increased, eventually to track would be sealed by new owners.
