1946 - CLAREMONT SPEEDWAY TO REOPEN AFTER World War 2
Almost all forms of motorsport around the world closed with the outbreak of World War 2,Fuel rationing was a major problem and motorsport was considered as a luxury.
By war's end the motorsport population were reopening venues world wide, and one of them was the Claremont Showground Speedway, The Grand opening date was set for the 18th of October 1946.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------1946 - WEST AUSTRALIAN REPORTED 27th September 1946As was planned Claremont Speedway reopened under light on the 18th of October 1946, with a traditional program of motorcycle solo and sidecar racing events.
26,000 spectators packed into the Claremont showground to witness that 23 event program. The fan's came from near and far for possibly the biggest motor racing event to happen in Perth ever.
