1979 - THE "R" SEND PEPPETUAL TROPHY
During the early years of the Bunbury Car Club this Purpetual Trophy was held in high regard within the membership, so much so it was a great houour to win it.
The winner was a driver who had excelled within a seasons competition but not backed it up the following season, it was not for the member that just enjoyed being out on the track, skidding around with his mates and never entertaining the thought of winning a race.
And so the Photo of Kim Beard being presented the award by Mr Sid Hudson, Kim had had a ripper year but failed to back it up the following season. Kim spoke recently and explained to have your name on a trophy along with the likes of his hero's Richard Hartzer and Martin Laughton.
The trophy was dropped from the end of season Presentation dinner back in the late 1990's after the committee of the day, beleived a winner may not understand and accept the award in the manner it is intended, that was the official statement. It could have also been a committe member was in line to receive this long running award.
