1948 - MOUNT DRUITT CIRCUIT
The Australian Sporting Car Club obtained the disused World War 2 airfield in 1948, the original circuit used the landing strip only but in 1952 the race track was extended into an ajoining piece of land owned by a Sydney businessman, this increased the length of the track to 2 1/4 miles.
1952 also saw control of the circuit pass to the newley formed Australian Racing Drivers Club, about 25 race meetings would be held at Mount Druitt over the next five years, it is claimed that spectators would exceed 15,000.
The circuit held many major meetings in its time including a 24 hour race from the 31st of January until the 1st of Febuary 1954, The last meeting at the circuit was on the 10th of November 1957.
By 1958 a rift had formed between the ajoining property owner and the Australian Racing Drivers Club which saw once again the airstrip only used, this time for speed events only, by 1970 the circuit had closed completly due to the introduction of the New South Wales Speedway public safety act of 1969.
