1942 - SATTLER AIRFIELD
Also known as the 21 mile or the Manton emergency airstrip, while under construction the new Sattler RAF airfield was bombed by the Japanese Imperial forces on the 2nd of April 1942, The damage was minimal and there were no allied planes at the base at the time.
The Airfield closed as a military base in 1945.

1947 - DARWIN MOTORCYCLE CLUB
The Darwin motor cycle club was formed in 1947 and competed on a regular basis against the Rum Jungle Motor Cycle Club, Meeting were held at various tracks around Darwin, including Sattlers Airfield, Hughes Airfield, Coomalie and Casuarina Beach.
The club often travelled as far as Katherine, Tennant Creek, Alice Springs and some even traveling as far as Mount Isa.

The racetrack was 2 miles in length and used the main runway and the rear taxiway.
