1904 - NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY.
The first race meeting held at the Nashville Fairgrounds was on the 11th of June 1904, this featured horseless carriages and motorcycles.
The dirt track was 1 1/8 miles in length as harness horse racing event were also held at the venue, The first meeting had to be cancelled after a motorcycle ran up the back of a car that was lining up.
Another series of races were organized in September of 1904, Most of the competitors had just raced at the 1904 World Fair in St Louis, Missouri, Racing pioneer Barney Oldfield was one of those competitors, The spectators marvveled at these machines racing at over sixty miles per hour.

1911 - NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY.

1915 - NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY.
The organizers began holding annual events in september of 1915 to coincide with the state fair, It was not unusual for Indianapolis 500 drivers to turn up and race.

1958 - NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY CONSTRUCTION.
In 1958 the speedway organizers cut ties with the harness racing group and signed a ten year lease with the State Fair Board to build a 1/2 mile paved oval track at the fairgrounds, with a 1/4 mile paved oval inside that and incorperating the front straight.
The new speedway opened on the 19th of July 1958, Races wer run on the smaller track on a regular basis, with the 1/2 mile track reserved for special events.
