1966 - DANDALOO PARK SCRAMBLE TRACK
From its official inception in 1966 and prior the Narrogin club was known as the Great Southern Motorcycle Club and had big plans, The club negotiated a lease on a parcel of land along the Wickepin Road and built a new race track, This track would be named Dandaloo Park, They also hosted the Harley Clubs 33rd Harley Scramble at the new track on the 26th of June 1966.
It has been reported that the surge in interest in motorcycle racing in the district could be attributed to a keen interest within the large group of railway workers in the area an the arrival of Neil Munro, a keen motorcycle racer from the Geraldton Motorcycle Club.
It was around this time that the club would change its name to the Narrogin Motorcycle Club.
As all clubs at the time, Dandaloo Park was built by a band of volunteers with assistance from local contractors, In particular Eathworks and cartage contractor Les Smith.

Well known Narrogin publican Les Fenn is a generous patron of many sports, including the Motor Cycle Club. The club showed its appreciation of his assistance at the big scramble on Sunday last when they erected a sign on one of the dominating features of there Dandaloo Park course, indicating that it was named "Mount Fenn" Acky remarked that he had been called a lot of things in his time but it was the first time he had had a mountain named after him.17th August 1967 |
