1953 - WANGARATTA AIRSTRIP CIRCUIT.
Formed in 1953, The Wangaratta based North Eastern Car Club, acquired the use of the old Wangaratta Airstrip to hold Car and Motor Cycle racing events.
The Airstrip was an unsealed surface, Placed just out of town on the Greta Road, The competitors would race to one end enter in a tight hairpin and return back up the strip to negotiate some more tight turns, that was a lap.
The club held a number of successful meetings at the venue over a four year period, However the site suffered from major drainage problems.
