1933 - TOPSFIELD FAIRGROUNDS
Motor Racing began at the Fairgrounds during the 1933 County Fair as a top up for the normal program.
By 1935 stand alone motor racing events were being held on the big 1/2 mile track, The program consisted of car and motorcycle racing.
As time passed a 5/8 mile track was added on the infield in turns three and four, Midget racing became very popular, under sanction from the New England Midget Auto Racing Association on the smaller track, while the big cars used the larger oval.
With the outbreak of World War 2 racing ceased at the Fairgrounds as it did world wide, After the war motor racing returned but only on the 1/2 mile oval.
In 1950 the Fairgronds board decided to no longer hold motor racing events and turned the arena into a Dog Track.
