1983 - FIREBIRD INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
Firebird International Raceway opened in 1983 as a massive motorsport complex, consisting of a Road Racing Circuit, Dragstrip, A lake for Speedboat racing and a 3/8 mile oval dirt track speedway.
Manzanita Speedway was already operating close by so the owners decided to work with Manzanita and not clash with race dates.
During the speedways short life it hosted all types of classes but mainly focused on Late Model Sedans, Sprintcars and Stock Cars.
The track was well supported by competitors as well as spectators, hosting two World of Outlaws rounds in 1989, with Jeff Swindell and Chuck Miller both winning one each.
The owners closed the speedway after 1989 to concentrate on the Road Racing and Drag Racing sides of there investment.
