KENTUCKY LAKE MOTOR SPEEDWAY.
Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway was the result of one man's desire to get involved in speedway, This man was a local business man who had committed for the long haul but as time marched on his whole plan to put his local community on the motorsport's map came crashing down around him.
Such was the commitment to the speedway venue, that the owner's built the buildings from brick's and morter, this venue was never going to close. The whole venue could be seen while driving past on Highway 24. The venue was a very well known landmark.
Shayn McMartin and Sherri Hekenast were the owner's of this 3/8 mile banked dirt oval that ran on a regular basis, the meeting's were very successful and the partners ran the venue right up to 2013 when they decided to sell to another couple of local's in Ronnie Jones and Jim Hale. The track did continue to thrive, well that was up until 2015 when the Government decided they needed to reclaim a portion of the venue for the expansion of Highway I24 and I69, This meant a loss of a major portion of the pit area, moving the pits meant the owners would have to spend a massive amount of money on reclaiming the adjacent swamp land, so in that year the venue closed and the Speedway put up for sale.
Brian Moyle recalls: Its now 2025 and the venue has fallen into a state of dis-repair with nature reclaiming the land, the grand stands he gone to a new home and the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway is still up for sale.
