1932 - CALUMET SPEED BOWL
Calumet Speed Bowl opened in 1932 as a motor racing venue. This 1/2 mile square dirt track was originally built for dog racing but it never opened. There was no set pattern to the race meetings, they were a bit hit and miss.But in 1935 the track was closed for the year while they reduced the size of the track to a 1/5 of a mile.

1936 - TORRENCE MIDGET SPEEDWAY
When the track did reopen in 1936 more regular meetings were being held, that was until later that year a fire burnt the mainly timber venue to the ground, closing it forever.
