Motor racing in the form of Go-Karts was held on a yearly basis at the Perth Causeway car park next to the Swan River, The events were organized by the Hurricane Go Kart Club and the racing was a fundraiser for the local Apex Club.

Les Power in a Montessa-powered kart won the Hurricane-Melville Apex club annual 20 minute Le Mans at the causeway with 71 laps.
Tiger member Graham Burville was second with 69 laps in his CZ powered Kart, These two karts won against newer and larger equipment.
This year's event was a good financial success for Apex

1968 - AUSTRALASIAN ROAD & TRACK MAGAZINE REPORTED
A Scrutineers school will commence on August 23 at WAKA president's (Jack Hooker) house, 12 McKenzie Street, Wembley in an effort to build up and maintain a high standard of safety at club meetings.
The school will be headed by Ted Gittos and the organisers want a maximum of four and a a minimum of two scrutineers from each club.
The move has got the backing of State chief scrutineer Rod Stilies.

At the Hurricane Go Cart Club's annual general meeting on August 8, the following office bearers were elected: President Ron Dunning, Vice President Ivan Selwood, Secretary Lyn Searle, Treasurer Joan Bell and committee: Ken Ditchfield, Jack Tomich, Ray Griffiths, Rex Johnson and Ted Kennedy.
