1902 - MINNESOTA STATE FAIR
It has been reported that the Minnesota State Fair got its start in 1902, Part of the Fairgrounds venue consisted of a one horse racing track and a masive grand stand.

1907 - MINNESOTA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
Motor racing started as apart of the State Fair program and added some support to the horse racing. The existing one mile dirt oval horse track was ideal for these mechanical monsters. Racing continued on the big track until 1940 when it was reduced in size.

1940 - MINNESOTA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
The new 1/2 mile dirt oval proved to be very popular but the ban on motor racing because of world war 2 soon halted all racing.

1946 - MINNESOTA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
After the war the Fairgrounds reopened to large fields of the increasingly popular Stock Cars as well as big spectator numbers.

1966 - MINNESOTA STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
In 1966 the Fair's board decided to pace the track and enjoyed a lot of success right through until February of 2002 when the board decided to end motor racing at the venue and redevelope the arena.
