1957 - EASTERN GOLDFIELDS SPORTING CAR CLUB. HOT ROD TRACK.
Kalgoorlie Boulder introduced speedway racing into the region back in 1957 in the form of Hot Rod racing in pre 1940 cars, The track was built on land that was used during World War 11 as a military airfield base. The land was bought by Ted Percy, who owned the Federal Hotel and was Tom Percy's dad for ten quid from the Commonwealth Government and gifted it to the GMCC.

1962 - EASTERN GOLDFIELDS SPORTING CAR CLUB BOULDER OVAL SPEEDWAYBoulder oval in the centre of town was the home of Boulder Speedway.at the time only solo's, midgets and tq's raced on the track. The then promoter of Claremont Speedway Aub Lawson also ran Boulder Speedway. When Aub left town the track closed.
In 1959 local car dealers Oliver and Joe Camilleri reopened the track with the introduction of stock car racing, The opening meeting was on the 4th of April 1959, The speedway manager was Ron Donaldson. In October 1962 The Goldfields Rod and Custom Club gained permission from the Boulder council to hold speedway racing. By 1967 the Goldfields Speedway Association was formed The Boulder Oval track closed in 1984 when the new Kalgoorlie Speedway opened. |
