1949 - GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY
Georgetown Speedway was constructed in 1949 by businessman and Auto Racing pioneer Melvin L Joseph. This 1/2 mile clay oval track opened in the same year. It soon became very popular with the drivers and spectators alike, because of the high speeds and thrilling racing action. The speedway did close for a period on an unknown date.
