1949 - TERRA HAUTE SPEEDWAY
By 1949 the planning for the venue was complete and the construction of the 1/2 mile racetrack had started.

1952 - TERRA HAUTE SPEEDWAY OPENS
The speedway opened to the public on the 15th of June 1952, The track did close and re-open many times during its initial years, Don Smith promoted the venue during the 1960's, after that there was a series of promoters in control which saw spectator numbers fall away as USAC withdrew there sanctioning.

2008 - TERRA HAUTE SPEEDWAY
In 2008 DHK Promotions LLC Group took over running the track, and carried out some major upgrades, DHK Promotions was owned by former Major League Baseball player Brian Dorsett, Indy Car Racing League driver Davey Hamilton and Indianapolis 500 radio announcer Mike King.

2009 - TERRA HAUTE ACTION TRACK
In 2009 DHK Promotions added a new partner to its group in Chris Novolney and changed the name of the speedway to the Action Track.
