The track was situated six miles out of Townsville city centre at an area called the Bohle after a very small river called the Bohle which ran past the track.
The track was built and originally promoted by Tony Bell, He spent about four years finding the land then going through all the planning stages and raising the money to build it, The main financier was a man called Elma Seidler.
The speedway was also known as Sun City Speedway and Thuringowa Speedway. The first meeting was held on Saturday the 4th of February 1984.
The crowd was reported to be 6,000, far beyond the expectations of Bell and Seidler, concidering that the complex was not completely finished and the seating facilities were very limited at the time.
