1965 - TENNESSEE VALLEY DRAGWAY
JB Teller and his son, Travis, built the track at a cost of $90,000, Teller also owned Coeburn Raceway in Virginia.
The dragstrip was to be 3/4's of a mile in length and forty foot wide, with a paved return road and pit area.
Construction commenced in March of 1965, When news brock of the new strip around eighty residents from the nearby Beechcliff Estate began a campaign to stop construction, This failed and the construction west ahead.
The dragstrip opened on the 30th of May 1965 with a two day event, A purse of $1,000.00 was offered for Super Stocks, which was won by Kingsport racer Shirl Greer, Three thousand spectators turned out for the opening day.
The track was doged with legal and financial problems until finally closing in 1969.
