West End Speedway in Gilbert Pennsylvania opened in 1951 as a banked 1/2 mile Dirt Oval Speedway with Stock Car's on the program. The owner was up against it right from the start as he had built it adjacent to a church that started up a campagn to close the track down, and that's eventually what happened. The venue did close down after the end of the 1952 racing season.
