1948 - SANDLAKE SPEEDWAY.
Sandlake Speedway was the first dirt track speedway to open in the Anchorage region. Built on the edge of Sandlake and being a sandy surface the track would chop up and become very dusty. The speedway only had a short life, operating from 1948 through to 1952.
