1925 OLYMPIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Olympia Motor Speedway some times refered to as Maroubra Speedway was a 1 mile banked concrete bowl that opened in December of 1925 at Maroubra near Sydney.
The press of the day reported crowds of up to 70,000 people at the venue, the same press also labled the Speedway as a killer track with six competitors loosing there lives at the venue, two on motorcycles.
Smaller club meetings and record ettempts were held through the thirtee's.
By the 1940's the concrete track was falling apart so the track was demolished and turned into housing, the only part of the venue that remains is the infield, that is what is known as Coral Sea Park.
