1920's - MACON FAIRGROUNDS.
Motor racing started at the Fairgrounds in the 1920's when the track was one mile in length, there is a fair chance that this dirt oval had been used for horse racing. Motor racing continued through until 1939 when the start of World war 2 closed down all motor racing World wide.
1947 - MACON SPEEDWAY.
After the end of the war, in 1947 the speedway reopened, this time as a 1/2 mile dirt oval, the track was known as Macon Fairgrounds or Macon Fairgrounds Speedway. The venue operated through until 1988, when it closed again never to reopen.
