1969 - GRACEFIELD MOTORCYCLE RACES. 26th April 1969.
The motorcycle racing events held on the street's of Lower Hutt began on the 26th of April 1969 and were organised and run by the Hutt Valley Motor Cycle Club. This public road circuit developed a reputation as being extremely fast and dangerous with uneven rail crossing and worn or patchy road surfaces.

1970's - GRACEFIELD MOTORCYCLE CIRCUIT.
Through the 1970's and into the 1980's the racing became quite popular and some say famous, Big event's such as the Marlboro Series and the Pan Am International road races were attracting many of the big names to the Lower Hutt circuit, such as Warren Willing, Robbie Phillis and Pat Hennon.

Just when it seemed that all was building the tragic death of a rider, Carey John Larkin during the 29th of December 1984 meeting caused the cancelation of any further events at the street circuit.
