1924 CUMBERLAND RACE TRACK
Also known as the Fairgo Race Track, This horse racing track was founded in 1924, The track facility boasted 300 horse stalls and was the first half mile track in the state.
Crowds of up to 25,000 would often flock to the venue to attend these horse racing events during it peak years.
Horse racing ceased at the Cumberland half mile in 1961.

Allegany County: Raceway no longer an asset
Cumberland - officials agree, it might be time to remove the Fairgo Half Mile from the Allegany County Fairgrounds.
I think the race track being gone is something that is going to happen, said Allegany County Commission President Jake Shade, It's just not economically feasible for anyone to race out there anymore, For the Fairground to move ahead the raceway should go, according to Shade.

2017 GREATER CUMBERLAND RACEWAY
During 2017 chairman Shade was forced to back down and a new operator came on board, The speedway is now fully operational and is known as the Greater Cumberland Raceway.
