1946 - CORPUS CHRISTI SPEEDWAY.
Corpus Christi Speedway opened as a 1/3 mile Dirt Oval track on the 17th of November 1946 running Jalopy's and later on moving into Stock Cars. Newspaper reports from the day indicate that it was very popular.
1950 - CORPUS CHRISTIE SPEEDWAY.
At some point in 1950 the owners, or management team decided to roll the dice and spent lots of money paving the track, this made for faster racing with no dust. Initially the competitor and fan numbers increased, bringing in good profit and justification for there investment.
But nothing lasts forever. The venue was loosing its appeal to attract the drivers and spectators. The speedway was also changing owner ship and names on a regular basis and closed down in 2015. never to reopen.
