1955 - EPSOM SHOWGROUND SPEEDWAY.
Epsom Showground hosted Stock Car racing from its opening on the 12th December 1955 through until February of 1959.
Stock Cars were the major attraction for the fans, they would ofter pack out the venue with the teams racing events, they had a big following, seem's that when the Midget racing was on, that's when you went for a pie and a drink or a piddle.

Des McCollumSadley tonight during the New Zealand verse Australia Stock Car challenge we lost one of our own. A true champion of the sport, 24 year old Des McCollum, Des would be killed in an accident while racing his Ford Coupe.
It cant be said for sure but the death of Des may have led to the descission by the Showground Board to not hold anymore Speedway meeting's at the Showground.

Racing was then moved to Glouster Park and Western Springs.
