Despite the track described by some as Dry Dusty and rough the nights racing turned out to be a real winner, fast with plenty of side by side, wheel to wheel passing.

2025 - BUNBURY CITY SPEEDWAY. Australian Legend Car Championship. 10th & 11th January 2025.4th Championship to Rawlingsnight oneAfter a long slow burn by the Bunbury Car Club leading up to the National Title for these fantastic little Hot Rods that we know as Legend Car's, There racing exploded with a bang on Friday evening with a series of nine heat races.
These car's are quite twitchy to drive with there short wheel base, lack of stagger, semi hard tyre's and there sheer speed but all that does not seem to deter the drivers.
With the completion of the heat's it was Local racer Paul Joss who was the stand out driver, winning all of his heat's. That achievment would send Jossy to pole for the 25 lap feature event on the Saturday night.
night twoTwenty four car's would make there way to the track for the final, the wheel to wheel racing around the big bad Bunbury oval was nothing short of breath taking with passing, lead changes and contest's right through the field with racing within the title chase.

Speedway makes new appointment's.Things are about to get real at Bunbury City Speedway with the Executive Committee acting on some recommendations that came from the clubs advisory board.
The first of these recommendations was to appoint a General Manager to run the affairs of the club pertaining to the Race Meetings, That manager would negotiate with the Racing Section's, Driver's, Official's & Press.
This search was a long drawn out affair for Committee, as the person would have to please everyone, The City of Bunbury did come on board by way of assisting the club through the whole process, and it should
|
be said the the City were quite pleased with the Club's choice. So Brad Blake the Bunbury Car Club welcome's you to your new roll as General Manager, a roll that you would be familiar with as you farther was appointed to the very same position back in 1973.
|
Brad's involvement with the Bunbury Car Club started back in the 1980's when he started racing in the new Street Stock Division that has just got off the ground, he soon started dominating with his flashy driving style off running up near the wall and not lifting the throttle, this was however the thing that brought Brad unstuck in his very first State Title, as while rounding up the field a car in the pack crashed into Brad Putting him into the wall and earning him a Did Not Finish, The following year he won, after that he would go on to win a national Championship. Moving into Modified Sedan's would see Brad adopt a more professional approach to the sport, and the result's would flow, Brad would drift inter state to race as did his farther Allan in his early days, The lure of Super Sedan's however was always there for Brad and with help from Allan Nylander his reached his goal, taking on the best of the best, beating them at there own game.
It was at this point within Super Sedans there was a drive to drop the Australian speci's book and adopt the American version. The cars would then be renamed Late Model Sedan's. Sadly the Saloon Car Federation would not give in so the Division split and both forms of racing went there
|
own way's. Brad would move into Late Model Sedan's and never look back, since joining this division Brad has earn't many Blue Ribbon victories or placings in many states, State Titles, National Title's and Dedicated features. Over all the year's Brad has mastered the art of dealing with people and problems, He is well respected and liked amoung many circles, and know doubt has the vision to take Bunbury City Speedway to a new level.

Jamie Oldfield: to Head Track Preperation. It matters not, it seems. if Jamie Oldfield is lapping Bunbury Speedway at Walking pace in a grader or at full noise at over one hundred miles per hour in a Late Model Sedan, he knows what he is doing. Jamie was a no brainer situation when the the manager Brad Blake went looking for the person to head up the track prep team at Bunbury Speedway this year.
Jamie has gained many years of experience at track preperation at his home track, Ellenbrook Speedway. Its an art and not many people have the ability to get it right.
|
So who better to prepare this race track than a man that has lapped it in thirteen plus seconds feeling with sensetivity every ripple and bump, Bunbury has the added drama while watering the track, taking into play the shaded area's across parts of the track caused by the Grand Stand's, building's and tree's.
